We can roughly divide the circles into 3 types. There are union of circle, culture circle, and gakusho. There are a lot of events for people who belong to a circles. If you belong to the union of circle, you can take part in the festival of union of circle, the athletic meet, the cultural festival, the disguise and dance party, and other things. The festival of union of circle, we appreciate the CMs made by the members in each circles and some circles well-made CM are commended in the prefectural theatre every year. It’s very wonderful.
At the cultural festival, we open a stall in KGU. Popular singers come there and sing for us every year. We can enjoy very much. If you belong to a culture circle, you can take part in the cultural festival, making a lot of decorations for the cultural festival, the disguise parade in the downtown, and and other things. We don’t know what to do in gakusho. If you are interested in gakusho, please join gakusho. if you belong to any
circle or club, you can make a lot of friends. You also get to know a lot of people who are older than you and younger than you. Everyone is very kind. When I was a freshman in KGU, I belonged to Green vacation which is one of union of circle. We enjoy circle activity every Wednesday. We get along well and trust each other. People in green vacation are interesting and very kind. I like them very much. But it can be a little expensive for the circle activity. So I suggest belonging to any circles or club if you entered KGU. I think friends in college days are very important. There are a lot of friends in KGU. I think Kumamoto is an interesting place because there are a lot of playgrounds and kind people. KGU is very convenient because it has some famous places near to it. Torichosuji is the biggest downtown area in Kumamoto, and there has two streets: Kamitori and Shimotori. Kamitori and Shimotori have a lot of stores for shopping, have
a meal, play games, and enjoy karaoke. KGU near to Torichosuji, and it takes about 15 minutes by bus. So we usually get together with our friends there after school, during holidays, and after we finished exam.
The other famous place that near to KGU is Claire. It is very big shopping mall. It takes about 30 minutes from KGU to Claire by bus. It includes lots of tailor shop, restaurants, book shops, and so on. It is so big, so you may spend the whole day to enjoy yourself there. Many KGU students get together with their friends in there. In the Claire, there is a shop sells “a bucket parfait”. A bucket parfait is parfait in a bucket, so it is very large. I heard no one person can eat it by themselves. If you have confidence about your appetite, try to eat it. Another famous place that near to KGU is Yume town in Hikarinomori. It is very big shopping mall, too. And there is a movie theater. It takes about 20 minutes from Suizenji station to Hikarinomori by train. We can go there with friends to go shopping, to get a hair cut, and eat delicious sweets. There is interesting place because there are many different kind of stores, so you won’t get tired. We have lived near to KGU for a year and and a half but there is a lot of places we have never been to. So we want to go where we have never gone yet with our friends until we graduate this university. There are many bus stops and stations near to KGU, so you want to go out to use them if you come to here.
We are member of the Eibei (which means English and American studies department).We want you to know about our department. There are about 140 people in Eibei and we get along with them each other, it is composed of out of girls. We study English everyday and everyone should have English grammar class, writing class, speaking class and listening class in their curriculum. There are many native teachers speaking English in KGU, they are pretty kind. Some people say that there is too much homework in the second grade and we think so too. However, we think that if we are able to overcome this problem, we will understand English more. In KGU, there are some places to study English, for example, the English lounge. You should speak only English in there and you can talk with many international students. There is a TV, some games and so on, you will have a good time in there. The most important thing is you can speak and listen to English with native people. KGU’s library is very famous in Kyusyu because there are many books in there and it is the best in Kyusyu. Of course, there are many English materials. It is not only difficult books but also comics or easy to read books that we are interested in and many DVDs. We often use them for our homework. The library has comfortable study places, we like that place and do homework there.
Some eibei students go abroad, to study or to go sightseeing, they are international people. We study American culture or England culture through English, we are not only study language. KGU gave a lot of things to every student, if they want to do something. KGU has many departments but honestly, we think that eibei is the best department because every student studies hard and enjoys life on campus.
